6th gear not working in honda s2000?
Added (1). Every other gear is fine. No grinding or nothing. However, when I try to put it in 6th gear, its like there's nothing there. It just hits a brickwall. I have tried to use some excessive force but nothing extreme. Some people I have asked suggested it may be the syncro. I was curious if anyone had a similar problem or solution.
If you were having difficulty engaging all gears I would think it was a hydraulic or clutch issue. Since it's the sixth gear, it has to be internal parts, most likely the gear itself.
From my past experiences any car, issues with not engaging specific gears at all are often due to bent/damaged shift forks or other internal transmission issues like sheered gear teeth or bad bearings. Did you "power shift" the car a lot (hard/fast shifting) prior to this happening?
The only way to fix is to replace the gear set cause I don't think that Honda will sell you just the synchros. What year for the car? You may as well looking into a total rebuild or buying an AP2 for replacement.
- My 1999 manual honda prelude does not shift into 5th gear or reverse smoothly? My gears are smooth from 1-4 but then takes a lot of effort to go to 5th or reverse. Also when you get out of 5th or reverse it doesn't go straight into neutral like a normal manual car. They still work but it is very annoying that i have to push it into the gears and pull them out. What could the issue be? Transmission? Shift box? I plan on changing to a short throw shifter in the future.
- 5th & 6th gear issues, motorcycle? I have a 1984 Honda Magna 750. I noticed a month or two ago that 6th gear wasn't engaging. Then this weekend I noticed that 5th seemed to not be fully engaging. Wondering if anyone has an idea of what is wrong. Or can point me in the right direction.
- Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
- Canadian 6th gen. Honda civic Si? I was told that the 6th gen. Only comes with sohc d16 vtec engine. I was under the impression that my car was not vtec. Is this possible?
