1997 Honda accord with 300k on body and 120k on engine, should I buy?

Honda acccord has 309k on body and 120k on engine. The guy is asking for $1000, I just need a car to get me to my job and school. Its getting cold were I'm so I can't walk 3 miles from work every night anymore. Is this a good buy for a temporary car or is it a bad decision.

Added (1). Actually its a1993 Honda accord instead of a 1997.

Not a bad deal

Good

No. Waste of money. $1000, my bike wheels cost more than that. Use your bike to get to school and work. $1000 can turn into $3000 when it breaks down. I had a replaced engine for a reason, which I assume was abuse. It can have transmission problems or differential problems or wheel bearing problem. The any small thing would cost you easily $1000 to $6000 to fix.

Test drive it, see if there's any leak. Have someone follow you when test driving to see that the car go straight. See if it needs tires. Tires are not cheap.

Otherwise $1000 is not much to me. Can part out the car for a few hundreds if it dies on you.
