2002 honda accord flashing check engine light and extremely rough idling?
I added some oil because i was low, that didn't seem to fix the problem. When the car is idling its is a very slow pop-pop-pop-pop but when i give it gas it goes away. Also, if i'm driving on flat or slighly downhill ground the light stays on, but stops blinking. When i go uphill it begins blinking again. Any ideas?
Dude no one can guess that, go get the "error code(s) " read at a local auto repair shop or auto parts store.
If you were low on oil, it means your eng is in poor shape, so be prepared for massive repair costs, sorry guy.
Flashing check engine light is always a misfire. They misfire under load mostly. Hondas need valve adjustments as they age. But google this to get the diagnosis procedure. There will be much content on the site s for misfires.
Honda motors all have a common problem with the valves getting tight and they need to be adjusted every 60,000 miles. You need a minimum amount of work to fix this which includes a valve adjustment, new NGK spark plugs and plug wires. If you've been driving like this for a while get the oil and filter changed too. There will be gasoline in the motor oil and that will ruin the bearings!
The light flashing means you have a misfire in the engine. Most common fixes for this is new spark plugs and spark plug wires or if you have coil on plug system you might have bad coils. Get the codes pulled and that will tell you which cylinders are misfiring.
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Flashing check engine light on 02 Honda Oddyssey after Valvoline oil change? Got an oil change at Valvoline, and next day check engine light began flashing. Car was running flawlessly before oil change. They suggested a new fuel filter, as mine was pretty rough. I declined. Got error codes of random misfire, as well as cylinder 1,2,4,6 misfire. Scanner at auto zone listed EGR valve as suggested part. Could this possibly be that the fuel filter is bad or was put back on incorrectly?
- Does driving on extremely rough roads damage your car? I was driving to my friends house for the first time a couple days ago and I got lost. I ended up having to drive up this road that was all dirt, extremely cracked and had bunch of crevasses. My car was lurching pretty hard as I was driving up. Does driving on a road such as this cause any problems for your car? My car is a Honda civic 2014 and I was going as slow as possible up hill.
- 98 Honda Civic Stopped in the road with flashing engine light and had to tow it home? My Civic stopped (169k miles) while driving and now won't start. When checking codes by OBD II scanner, it shows P303, P304, P300 and P1399 which is misfire. Any ideas, how should I go about diagnostics. As car is pretty old, not worth of taking to mechanic Thanks in advance. It was bad battery and bad wireset combination. Replaced both, car started as before.
