2005 Honda Accord Vibration at 60MPH?
About 3 months ago I took my car for an alignment and turned tires, Not long after that I started feeling very unusual vibration but this only happens as soon as it gets to 60MPH and anything below or over that speed it stops and run completely smooth!
Tires are only about a year old, have alot of thread and if they were bad I would have felt it before taking it for alignment, since then I had the tires balanced, new alignment, changed both lower control arms and again had tires turned and it still has not stopped! I've spent about $500 already on this and its still not fixed, its driving me crazy, its annoying and I don't want to continue spending and guessing… Need help! Anyone else has had a similar experience?
Could be many things. Have someone look at your tires though. Sometimes they can delaminate and cause a vibration at speed.
A) Terminology - You mean you had the tires rotates, not turned. Rotated in this sense means the fronts have been moved to the rear, and the rear tires have been moved to the front.
B) Most of the time, when dynamic spin balancing doesn't cure the problem, this symptom is related to tire wear. Uneven wear can cause vibration in very narrow speed bands.
C) A hard impact can damage a tire or wheel and throw them slightly out of round. No amount of balancing or alignment can fix this, and when a shop balances a wheel and tire, they sometimes forget to check. Often, they'll get the balance close, but not perfect, and call it good. Factory tolerances for a wheel are about 30 thousandths of an inch. That's not much, so have this checked. It can't be spotted with the wheels mounted on the car unless it is really noticeable.
D) Worn brake rotors or a sticking brake caliper can cause vibration. If you feel it in the steering wheel and / or in the pedal when braking, those are the telltale signs of this problem.
Sounds like you have a bad tire.
Check for uneven wear.
I agree with the others - the problem is probably in the tires. 60 mph, with less vibration above or below that, is typical for tire balance but it can also be a tire defect. If it were mine I would take it to a place with a "road force" tire machine like the Hunter GSP-9700. Road force analyzers put a load on the wheel and run it as though it was on the vehicle. If the wheel is misbehaving it will show it.
A locator for the Hunter machine is at - my local Discount Tire (where I buy my tires) has one.
Classic tire imbalance problem, try another shop. Wheel balance machines are at the mercy of their operator. If the shop does not calibrate the machine regularly and if the boy doesn't take care when he mounts the wheel it will never be perfect.
Have the cv joints checked. You may have one going stiff.
If that vibration isn't there when you first start driving in the morning but starts to vibrate after 15 minutes of driving the tires have bad belts that are shifting.
Firestone tires are junk and do this all the time.
- Honda Pilot 2003. I hear a sound of vibration from the engine when I drive. What could be the cause? It does not matter what speed but of course when I'm at 30-40 mph range it is more audible. It's comes from the engine. It feels like I was driving over combed road (like the one at side of highways to wake you up). But it is not that coarse. It's a smoothers vibration than that. Its almost once every minute and stays for 5-6 seconds. Sometimes more. Any ideas what it could be?
- Honda cbr125 bad vibration? I have a Honda CBR125r 2006 . The bike seems to run fine and pulls really well for a 125 however if my RPM's go over 6-7 k it vibrates like made, seems to be engine, but not sure. Any ideas?
- Vibration when i accelerate? I have a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid with 264K Miles on it. When i'm at a full stop and then press the gas, the car vibrations when i do that and makes a sound like something is hold on the tires, only comes from front tires, what could it be? I'm taking it to honda dealership for major tune up, but i want to know what's the problem with it?
- My car starts shaking once i hit 60mph? Honda civic 01 ex VTEC automatic My car starts to shakes when I'm going 60mph & above. Once I let go of the gas it stops the shaking & rides smooth.
