Does the immobilizer transponder inside a Honda key have to be programmed or are those standard frequencies?

I need to buy a new key for my 2006 Honda Accord. I plan on buying a replacement from amazon (cheaper than the dealership), and it comes with the immobilizer transponder and the 4-button fob. I plan on putting the 4-button fob from my old remote into the new one so that doesn't need to be programmed. So does the immobilizer transponder that allows the car to start need to be programmed?

They do have to be programmed and this can be done yourself on most vehicles if you have at least 1 working key. If not, you will have to go to a professional (i.e. Locksmith). Shouldn't cost more than $30 to do as long as they don't have to mold a new key. If you need a spare or replacement key fob remote check us out.

Only idiots buy immobilizer keys or remotes on line! They are specific for each vehicle and need to be programmed. I've wasted more time messing with customers wrong parts and will not bother doing that anymore!

You will have to go to a big Supermarket with the original key so they can read the chip for the immobiliser in the one you have and get that onto a chip for the new one. The Matching is for the Remote system for the Alarm and Central Locking.
