Fuel Sending Unit problem?
I have Honda Accord Ex 1994. Since two months ago, my fuel gauge did not work properly. I diagnose my fuel sending unit using Digital Multimeter, it give an proper resistance reading. When I play with the float outside of the oil tank, it give an accurate reading too. But when I put it back inside the fuel tank, and start my engine, the fuel meter gauge immediately drop to below the symbol "E".
I don't think there are something wrong with the wiring, and the Sending Unit seem alright too if it was test outside the fuel tank.
What are the problem with my sending unit?
Problem with wiring. Perhaps a bad connection, or a wire that's broken right a the connector.
Problems like that are difficult to diagnose. My truck sometimes showed low oil pressure. The problem was the sending unit, not the actual oil pressure, the wiring, or the gauge on the instrument panel.
Just keep poking around. You'll get it figured out eventually.
If the wiring is fine, the float isn't floating. As the float is part of the sending unit, replacing the sending unit would be the answer in that case.
Check for a good ground connection at the fuel sending unit with a test light or multimeter. Ground connection could be bad. Confirm by connecting a jumper wire from sending wire connection at gauge to a good ground. Gauge should read full. If gauge reads full, ground connection to sending unit is not good or there's an open on sending wire from sending unit to gauge.
- Will a Honda head unit fit in a Mitsubishi? I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. I recently purchased a Pioneer aftermarket head unit off of Amazon (1 DIN) and all the installation kits that I see at Pepboys, Autozone, etc are all for cars of makes with Honda/Acura, General Motors, etc. Will a Honda (same year) single DIN installation kit fit in my 03 galant? Or do I have to get a specific fitment for my car?
- Does the fuel tank size have any impact on fuel economy between vehicles? For example the new Honda Accords have a 56 Litre tank while the CRV has a 53 L and the Rogue a 55 L. Now the 2 latters are compact crossovers and are arguably bigger in size than the Accord, so would that mean they are using up more gas? Would that mean its better to buy the Accord if we were going based on just gas mileage?
- 03 Honda Crv No AC: need freon or blown AC unit? Googled and I guess there's a huge problem with the AC unit in the 03 CRVS to explode and send fragments through the system, thus causing it to not work. Well my AC in my crv does not work, bought it from a used lot in the winter not knowing. When I turn the AC on it does not make any weird noises or anything, it just blows out warm air. It doesn't blow steaming hot but fan hot, if that makes sense. Could it just need a freon charge or could the system be kerput?
- Why won't my head unit turn on? I have a 1995 Honda Civic Hathcback. I just replaced my alternator and after i did that, my head unit will no longer turn on. The head unit itself still works, just not in my car, and none of my fuses are blown. My cigarette outlet still works and its on the same fuse as my head unit, which doesn't work. I didn't know if this was a common problem people have, but I can't figure out what's wrong with it.
