I have a rip in my tire, how much to fix or replace?

Today, I found a solid and straight tear at the top of my tire. I can see the little metal pieces that connects the rubber of the tire together. I'm not sure if I need it replaced or if that can be repaired for cheap somehow. I drive a 96 Honda Accord, any ideas on how much it would be to have it replaced or if possible, repaired?

If you can see the steel cords, the tire is shot and needs to be replaced.

You sure ask a lot of questions about this car. Are you bored? Enjoy texting? Most people do look at tires or notice anything you describe until the tire is flat. Sorry, I do not find your posting credible. Everyone with a car knows to take the vehicle to an auto repair shop for information, advice as to repairs and estimates of such. Asking invisible people as to how much of anything as to any repairs is delusional.

It is not possible to repair a rip in a tire, only a puncture. $120-$200 fir a new tire.

  • Punctured tire replacement - can I replace only 1 tire - is it safe to replace the PUNCTURED tire only? My 2005 Honda Pilot rear left tire was punctured near the threshhold (ie - sidewall), but still usable. Thus the tire dealer patched it only. Should I replace that punctured tire only? Or should I replace the 2 tires on the same axle? Or even buy a whole set of 4 tires? I'm concerned about safety, and thus your best advice is very appreciated.

  • How to fix wide puncture in tubeless tire? My Honda activa s Tubeless tire has a bit wide puncture. Tire shop suggests to insert a tube in it and use. Is that the only option other than changing the tire itself?
  • My car insurance is trying to rip me off? So I got into an accident before thanksgiving. A man did a 360 on the highway after losing control of his car. He then hit me, and now my 2009 Honda Civic is totaled. He's clearly at fault. Problem is my insurance is trying to pay only $11000 (this includes sales tax) to my 12K car loan. Leaving me with nothing. What can I do now?
