I paid 1000.00 for factory maintenance at autonation honda. What should be done on my 08 4dr accord 4cyl?
Took my 08 accord sedan to autonation in at roseville automall to have the 110,000 mile service done and the charged me $997.00. Alls they did was change oil, 2 air filters, spark plugs, serpentine belt. Is this right? The service advisor said the timing belt is now called a serpentine belt is this true. When I had all my brakes done last year I skipped the factory maintenance because it was too close to needing the next service and the guy told me at the 110,000 mi service they do everything timing belt, water pump, exchance fliuds, check belts n hoses, oil change, tune up.
Service advisor is talking out of his keister. Serpentine belt runs alternator, power steering, A/C, etc. Timing belt/chain drives camshaft/s off of crankshaft, and SHOULD be changed @100K. Also, I think $997 is Way high for work that they did, but dealership labor rates are VERY high, on the order of $120/hr. Don't see more than 3 hrs. Labor here. Check your invoice, do the math, and find out where you got screwed.
First mistake: You had your car serviced at a stealership. There's nothing special about a Honda Accord. Any mechanic can service them with ease especially a 4 cylinder one. Your car doesn't have a timing belt that needed a $5-600 service; It has a maintenance-free timing chain. Advisor lied to you. There's only the standard accessory belts to change, a transmission service, a tuneup and filters would be less than $500 from a decent independent mechanic. Write it off as a lesson learned and never deal with them again.
The serpentine belt is NOT the timing belt. The serpentine belt drives the alternator, power steering pump. And a/c pump. The timing belt drives the camshaft(s) and this job needs dismantling to access the belt. Replacing the serpentine belt is an easy 15 minute job. Hope this info helps.
A serpentine belt, or drive belt, is a completely different thing than your engine's timing belt. If the timing belt was change then a grand is a fair price. If it was simply the drive belt you go got seriously bent over.
What is usually done to the vehicle when you get a 110,000 mile service?
All good answers, but your first mistake was taking it to a dealer whose main goal is to sell new cars.
He does not care about your maintenance business. Find a small independent who does.
- Would you buy a used Honda Civic that had no maintenance done? Has 100,000 miles. Only things done were synthetic oil/filter change and air and cabin filters. Spark plugs, ATF, brake fluid, etc never done. Has timing chain. Would you still buy it or would it have problems due to no maintenance being done?
- Supercharger on a 2002 Honda Accord 5 speed 4cyl 0 to 60 time? Thinking about putting a supercharger in my 2002 Honda Accord 4 cylinder. If the 0 to 60 time is about 9 sec now what can I expect after? It has only 40000 miles it can it handle a supercharger. And how many more miles can I expect out of it? Money's not an issue. And don't want another car.
- I want to sell my car, how do i go on about doing that? Its paid for and have 100k miles on it 2008 Honda Accord LX two doors Was looking to post it on craigslist and buy a new one after. I have no job super broke so wanted to make money off of it and get a new one in the process
- Is a 2006 Honda Accord 4cyl coupe with 180,000 miles a good purchase? It's my first car so I have a super low budget. I found a deal on the car, 2,400$ and has some work to be done to it. Needs 2 new tires, an alignment, and a new mirror. It's got ALOT of miles on it and it's scaring me away from buying it. I've been told that Hondas are a reliable car as long as it has been maintained. I really don't know if I should buy it because it might not last me a long time. Do you all think this is a good deal, and if so why or why not?
