I think my car burning gas too fast? - 1
I have a 2003 Honda Accord(sedan) V6 3.0 liter engine with 140,000and I'm only getting around 260 miles on a full tank, shouldn't I get more?
Any suggestions?
Drive with more anticipation and less harsh acceleration. Check the tyre pressures.
Thats about right.
Your Honda has a 17 gallon fuel tank. It should be getting around 21 mpg in the city. That would equate to around 350 miles of city driving. Normally when the low fuel light comes on it will only hold around 13 gallons of fuel. Using 13 gallons you would be able to drive around 273 miles. Highway your Honda should get around 30 mpg which would mean you can drive around 500 miles on a tank of fuel. And again filling it up after the low fuel light comes on you can only add around 13 gallons which would mean it would go 390 miles on a tank. So, unless you are actually mathematically checking the fuel mileage you can't go by the fuel gauge. Check the mileage by filling it up, driving until the low fuel light comes on. Fill it up and divide the gallons it took to fill up into the miles you drove. Also with 140,000 miles on your Honda you most certainly should have replaced the spark plugs at around 100,000 miles. If you have not do it now. Also the cam belt and water pump should have been replaced at 105,000 miles. If you have not done that do it tomorrow as you are driving a time bomb. Your Honda's engine is an interference engine. If the cam belt breaks you will have serious internal engine damage. It is critical to have the belt replaced.
- Does 2010 Honda Pilot uses too much gas and is this safer? I'm trading my 2007 corolla for 2010 pilot, but my uncle said it uses too much gas and unsafe, is this true?
- Mechanic said he rebuilt the engine, smoke coming out of engine, could it be the grease burning off? The mechanic said he rebuilt the engine to my 1974 Honda CB550 I bought from him. Said he rebuilt the engine and is in perfect running condition. He has many bikes lying around and seems as if he is a hobbyist for bikes. He told me that he basically greased up a lot of parts of the motor and it is burning the grease off. The next oil change I do should remove the excess grease.
- How to keep my motorcycle clutch from burning out? I bought a Honda CBR500R for my first bike. I was riding over the bridge and I hit the clutch to help me get over it. I ended up getting more revs than acceleration after that. I called Cycle Center the next day and they said I had burnt out my clutch because I used it too much. Now it's going to take a week before they order the parts. I feel like riding the clutch is a habit. But I HAVE to use it to get out of parking. Any help?
- Do you think if they call a car a Sport model it should go fast? I remember when I think the Honda Fit/Jazz was called the "Sport model" and it got criticised for having soft suspension. These days "Sport" is used in most cars is used on the one with the most features and not fast cars very much. Should the ones with the most features be calling something else rather than sports?
