I'm 16 years old and i'm looking for a car that will last about 5-7 years?
The 3 cars i'm most interested in is the
1. 2009 Honda Accord (132k miles)
2. 2006 Acura TSX (140k miles)
3. 2001 BMW 3 Series (162k miles)
each are under $10,000. My question is which car do you think will be the best for me? And do you have any other suggestion?
Definitely the Honda Accord, it's newer and it has the least miles, Honda and Acura are both the same company basically, like Nike shoes and Air Jordan's. Parts for the Honda are going to be cheaper to replace and fix, much cheaper than the bmw, in my opinion, bmws have a lot of unnecessary parts that are expensive. A Honda or Acura will last you quite a
while.
(Edit): you can also look on Craigslist or something, you never know what kind of deals you'll find, not saying only use Craigslist, just more power to you
I would stay away from any of those cars. They might be newer but even that accord is really high mileage for the year. The 3 series is just crazy mileage and and Acura too. The Acura and Honda are reliable but if you're in the $10,000 range there are loads of other cars that are reliable that you can get with lower mileage. A Jetta would be a good option and so would a Camry or Corolla. Nissan Sentra, Altima, versa, I would recommend looking around a bit more there are plenty of reliable and nice cars out there if you look around.
The Honda.
Not only are they generally a very reliable car, it's also the newest and lowest mileage.
4 - Toyota Camry. Should be similar to the Honda, so it's good for the same reasons.
The mileage is still very high since they are not very old cars. You have to take each one to a mechanic to know what the condition is. You can't take the word of the seller since they are not experts. I would not buy a BMW. Every repair on that car will cost a fortune. A tuneup is several hundred dollars. You are too young to pay that kind of money, and at your age a Mercedez will cost a lot to insure, because it is a more expensive car. The Honda Accord is the most practical and best mileage. The Acura is a good car but costs more to repair. And there will always be repairs.
I think you should buy a car from someone you know or from a charity organization where people donate cars of all kinds and inspect them for basic safety and operation.
I would simply say buy the newest.

BMWs aren't reliable. The TSX takes high test. Accords last a long time, but that's rather high miles for the year. My Accord is an 06 and has about 130. I suspect it will last well past 200K if I keep it that long. I should.
For that money you should be able to find something rather better that will have around 75k miles. That would have a chance of lasting the time you want. Honda or Toyota. Find a one owner car. These ones you've suggested are quite advanced in car age and will become money pits soon. The bmw especially.
Think of buying privately from the first owner and spend 200 on a mechanic inspection of a car you find that you like and which has all the receipts and service history. Dealers tart up tired old heaps and charge far too much for them.

- How many years will a new car last before it breaks down often? If you buy a brand new car and keep up with maintenance, how many years can you expect to get before it begins breaking down often, requiring frequent and/or expensive repairs? 5, 10, 15, 20? I know this can vary depending on the model, but let's assume a Honda or equivalent Japanese car.
