Is car insurance cheaper the older the car is or what?
Just doing some quick research. It will be liability for a 1991 Honda Accord. Under parents name.
Just liability will be about the same no matter what car you have.
Generally, yes. Plus a mid-sized sedan, such as a Accord or Camry, would have about as reasonable coverage cost as you can find. But for a specific dollar amount your parents will have to ask their insurance provider, it will only take a minute to find out.
In most states, it's based on the following:
- The safety rating of the car. Info like this is calculated through the insurance companies using industry data.
- Where you live
- How far you drive and how often
- Credit history
- Your driving record
- Sex, age, marital status. If you're a male under 25, you're going to pay more.
The lesser valued the car is, the cheaper it is to insure.
Putting your car under your parents' name is insurance fraud. Insurance companies are wise to what you're doing.
Only your insurance agent knows for sure. Maybe you should ask him.
Maybe, shop around
Yes
Generally, no, and sometimes it's more expensive.
Liability covers the damage you can do. This does not diminish with the cars age.
Hit a Ferrari it gets expensive.
- Motorcycle or car what's cheaper for long term? I have my license for car an motorycle. I currently drive a 400cc motorcycle honda from 1979 i can do most of the upkeep on a bike myself. Insurance is 160 a month. Would it make more sense to drive a car an try to maintain it myself as well or is the bike cheaper in the long run. Insurance is 100 a month for a older small car. I live up north an ride year round in the cold an snow. I use it as a across town bike 1-2 miles tops unless it above high 30s
- List of bikes similar to honda crf but cheaper? I would get a crf 85 but they are not your moneys worth at like 2000 pounds so what other bikes can you get cheap?
- How many miles per gallon does a motorcycle give? Much cheaper than a car? Some idio actually said a while back that a motorcycle doesn't really give that many more miles per gallon than a car! This honda Rebel gives 84 miles per gallon! http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/...l-250.aspx And an msrp of only $4000 makes it a steal! Plus the legendary reliability of a honda!
- Is it worth buying an older car with original miles? I'm looking at this 98 Honda Prelude Sh that has 20k original miles. They're asking 14 grand for this car which normally would turn me away. But I see similar preludes around my area that sell for about 5-6 grand with "reasonable" miles. (140k-170k). Now I'm having second thoughts, any suggestions? No doubt I'm in love with this prelude, but 14 grand is gut wrenching.
