Is my car running too many RPMs?
I have a 96 Honda Accord Automatic V6. It has about 97,000 miles on it. Once it warms up, it runs about 2,800 RPMs at 65mph and about 3,000 at 70mph. It seems a bit high to me. Should I be concerned about it?
The final drive ratio is defined by the gears in your transmission. It is true that you might get slightly better economy and engine wear if the RPMs were a little lower, but the expense of rebuilding the transmission to replace the gearing would be more expensive than the benefit you can achieve. And of course, you could just drive slower to reduce the RPMs, perhaps you worry less if you drive 55mph.
That sounds about right to my, it depends on your gearing to what the rev's are at 70mph or 65mph the higher the gearing the lower the rev's. You should be just fine, in fact you should be in the power band at that speed so from 70mph if you put your foot down it will jump to 100mph in no time.
- What is the maximum speed my car and cruise at in terms of rpms for an indefinite period of time without risking problems? My car is a 2003 Honda Element with 4wd automatic. The car has 160 hp with 161 ft lbs of torque. It redlines at 6500 rpms. At want maximum RPM can this car sit at and still last me 300,000 to 400,000 miles? Can it cruise 4,000 rpms with no problems and still last me up to 300,000 - 400,000 miles or chances are it won't and it would overheat?
- How many years from the year the motorcycle was built should you hold onto it before the parts become too expensive For example I was interested in buying a 2006 Honda CBR600f4i until I looked up the price of the fairing pieces. Just a small piece of the fairing was over $600. Of course they charge that price because they want you to buy a new motorcycle.
- What is a good mileage to look for in a Honda Civic, Scion xB, and Toyota Prius to be used for a few years without too many problems? I'm looking at the above mentioned cars to be used for 1-3 years, but I do not know the mileage to look for. I d like to know the milage lifetime for each car mentioned, and approximately at how many miles the car will survive without having consistent problems. If you could give me the answer for each kind of car, or even one of them it would be greatly appreciated.
- Too many Kilometers on a 2004 Honda Civic? I'm looking at one listed for $3500, but it has 221000 Kilometers on it(Approx 137000 Miles. Worthy purchase for a first car, or no? Comes inspected, no rust, looks like it's in excellent condition from the pictures I've seen. https://www.nlclassifieds.com/Automotive-Cars-Honda-2004-civic-5-speed-summerford-Newfoundland-NLCId1750456
