My car struggles when i accelerate?

I have 09 honda accord
and i've noticed that my car struggles when i accelerate while having my AC on.
is this normal?

Added (1). Struggle as in. It would go up to like 3-4 gear (? I don't know what that's called.) but my car would take FOREVER to speed up

Is there any code(s)? Any light lit up or flashing on the dash cluster? Sometimes there's no light indication nor the CEL (Check Engine Light) lit up but the code(s) is store in the car controller(s)/ computer. Most technicians will check for code(s) first before starting the diagnostic process. It helps to zone into the possible affected area(s) to get to the right path.

It does not matter if your Accord has an I4 or V6 engine, it should not be sluggish, lost of power or having up shifting problem. AC on or not. Period!

Fuel, Ignition, transmission are the probable causes for the problem:

Edit: Get the code(s) read out at Auto Zone, Advance auto part stores (If you're living in the States) and update the information so other members can give you the proper advices. Stop by any trusty local repair shop (Check with BBB.com or friends, church members etc) for help. HTH

Dave and JJ are right, you can definitely feel a power loss with the A/C on.
The thing is, if you've had the car for a while, and the lack of power is something that has just started, then you do have an issue to address.
If it's always been like that since you've owned the car, then that's probably normal for this model car; the smaller the motor, the more you'll feel a loss of power feeling with the A/C on.
If it is a new problem, then look for things that can affect power, (dirty fuel filter or air filter, or a restricted exhaust/bad cat, etc.).

Most cars are, the a/c puts a big load on all vehicles. You have normal operation.

Any time I read a question like this I always think that the A/C system was worked on by someone that thinks more must be better and they put to much Freon in and that causes the compressor to go over pressure making it much harder to turn. It is that time of the year that all the A/C experts come out.

The aircon does sap some power from the engine when on but should not be that noticeable

Your A/C compressor may be dragging against the belt and requires more energy from the engine to keep the compressor turning, thus the power during acceleration is reduced. If your usual mechanic doesn't work on air conditioner equipment (some don't, it requires equipment that can capture refrigerant and such), ask him if he knows someone who does.
