Should I buy OEM or aftermarket power steering pressure hose?

I need to replace mine due to leaking, but I'm not sure if I should get OEM or save with aftermarket. Can anyone with experience tell me if should should spend more on that hose? Thanks!

Added (1). Also should mention this is for a 2006 Honda Accord

In my case, I bought an Edelmann power steering hose to replace the awful OEM Nissan hose that failed prematurely. Not only was the aftermarket hose much cheaper ($50 compared to $150 for the OEM hose) but it is probabl better quality than the OEM hose which has a bad reputation for failing on several Nissan vehicles.

Yes keep the receipt as it will have a guarantee.

You FAIL to state what car, truck, or snowmobile this might be for, or what company the original supplier/manufacturer (OES/OEM) was.

Furthermore, "Aftermarket" is an extremely vague term for parts that can range in quality from unusable junk to better than what the car manufacturer used originally. Repost with more info and then perhaps someone can assist you. I can say that for Mercedes-Benz, people that use aftermarket parts are called "idiots" (because they ruined the resale value and originality of the car), and/or "pedestrians" (because the junk parts fail and leave them stranded).

Edit: Okay, a run-of-the-mill '06 Accord. Search owner's forums to see if it is true about the "Nissan" hoses failing; if not, a trip to the Honda dealer's parts counter is in order. It's weird that a power steering hose would fail so soon - have you ever changed the fluid?

The factory doesn't make their own hoses, they buy them from someone else… If you get a good brand, like Gates, you'll be fine.

Get the oem ones you will pay alittle more but it worth it

OEM hoses usually fail faster than aftermarket but make sure your failure isn't just the infamous Accord O-ring failure at the pump. This was a very common problem and misdiagnosed, even by the dealers. That hose diagnosis is likely a 50 cent O-ring and 5 minutes time.

After market will be fine if you get the correct one!
Buy it at Advance Auto!

then take a CHANCE.

Some hoses have a rubber o-ring that fails. Choose wisely!

  • Karcher Honda Pressure Washer 2400psi Low Pressure? Hello every one I have a Karcher Honda Pressure washer 2400psi, when every I pull the trigger the first time it works fine. Then when I take the vavle unloader and the end where the air filter is on the pump, it works after a while for only one trigger pull. What's wrong?
  • Does power steering fluid get hot if the car is just running and the steering isn't being used? If the pump is just spinning, recirculating fluid and nothing else… Would it still get hot? I had to bypass the pump from the rack and have the fluid recirculate. Would the pump get hot from just spinning? I know 8th gen Honda's don't have a cooler for the power steering anyways.
  • Power steering fluid leaking from the base of the steering column? I have a 2002 Honda Civic and I noticed that there's power steering fluid leaking at the base of the steering column. I can't find anything about it online and don't want to take it to a mechanic if its something that I can figure out. Could this be the rack and pinion? Or is it just something simple? Anybody dealt with this issue before?
  • How to replace a low pressure a/c hose on a 2010 Honda Civic Ex (8th generation)? I'm a capable weekend wrench guy so this is not beyond me… My finances car has a leak in the a/c low pressure hose, I saw refrigerant spraying out during a refill so I know it's the hose. Anyway I've never replaced an a/c hose before, so if anybody has ever replaced one of these hopefully on this same model and year before, help a guy out and let me know how to replace this and what tools I'll need.
