What's wrong with my 1994 Honda accord?
Got a Honda accord 1994. Starts up, idles, blows white smoke from exhaust pipe and overheats. Could it be a blown head gasket or is it because it has a cracked cylinder?
Water is leaking into a cylinder
Most likely it's a blown head gasket. A simple cooling system pressure test will let you know the head gasket has leak if there's no external leak. This video will show you how:
If the head or the engine block has cracked, the only way to check is to remove it and perform a procedure called Magnaflux or you can send the cylinder head out to any machine shop and they will do it as well as checking the head for other problem and correct it (I would do it):
The overheating could be cause by other defects as well like: Cooling fans, thermostat, water pump, radiator etc. What have you checked to come to the conclusion that it's the head gasket?
