What should I modifying first to my 2015 Honda Accord Sport?
I have a new Honda Accord 2.5L Sport and I'm looking to buy upgrades for the car. Any suggestions on what I should do first? My friends tell me to add a cold air intake and an exhaust system but is there anything else that will improve my vehicles performance?
Wait til your car is older and more of a POS before you add to that quality.
The power output of an internal combustion engine is directly proportional to the rate at which you can make it burn fuel and use air. Cooling the intake air will increase performance slightly while not affecting fuel use, the exhaust system will mess around with back pressure and will adversely affect economy without improving power. Why fix it if it aint broke?
All cars come with a CAI form the factory. They are just plastic instead of shiny chrome and have a convenient throw away paper filter rather than a cleanable air filter that takes 4 hours to clean, dry, and oil properly. They are not only a waste of money… They also ruin MAF sensors. The oil on the filter migrates to the MAF sensor wires and destroys them. The only horse power bolt on's that you actually can feel a power increase with are cat-back exhaust systems.
If you're after more power a turbo or supercharger works.
CAIs are snake oil.
Honda already spent a fortune putting one in as standard which works well across the entire RPM range. Aftermarket CAIs just make a lot of noise and make you think the car has more performance, but usually those CAIs actually reduce performance.
So before you spend a single cent on modifications, make sure the car is correctly maintained and then pay for it to spend a couple of hours on a dynanometer (rolling road) at a reputable tuning shop. That will then gove you a set of baseline performance figures, and a good dyno engineer will then immediately be able to point out what mods will give you genuine improvements.
If you're serious about the mods, the first ones you'll pay for will be on the cooling system and the brakes, as they'll need to be able to cope comfortably with whatever you add next to add any real performance boosts.
Don't forget that all modifications MUST be declared to your insurer.
Your car has a better cold air intake than any you can buy aftermarket. They are a way to part ignore the fools from their cash.
Honda spent a lot of money on the exhaust. Again stock is better. Most aftermarket systems hurt performance as well as being illegal on some places.
If you want a long lasting good car spend your cash on good maintenance not shinny bits that give no benefit at best.
Modifications need to be notified to your insurance and devalue the car.
Why do you think you can do better than trained motor engineers with multi million budgets and test equipment?
Your friends are ignorant. Your car was engineered for excellent power, economy and reliability. Hondas are quite sensitive about fuel and induction, so do not mess with the intake or exhaust unless you want the check engine light on all the time. Cold Air Intake is a joke and a terrible waste of money.
A+
Do what ya like to do
First thing you need are headers and then dual exhaust then maybe a 4 barrel carb
Leave the car alone for now. Any mods might break the warranty. You can put bigger rims and tires but ask Honda first if that breaks the warranty.

- Will 2013-2015 Honda Accord Sport 18 wheels fit on my 2014 Accord LX? So I would like to get some OEM Honda Accord sport wheels on my LX but will I be able to just simply switch them? As far as I'm concerned they should but should I worry that the sport Tire is 1.5" larger in diameter and the rim is 2" larger?
- I'm looking at modifying my car, any advice please? My insurance renewal is coming up and I'm thinking of looking for modified car insurance. I have a Honda Civic Type-R GT FN2 and I'm not looking to heavily modify it. I'm thinking of getting; A new exhaust Intake system MAYBE a remap and spoiler I'm 23, 4 years no claims and 5 years license held.
