Wheels and tires dilemma, Accord V6 EX-L?

I recently purchased a '10 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Manual. Winter is quickly approaching and i want to know my best options, being that the winter here in Pittsburgh last year was a total nightmare.

the car came with 19" wheels, meaning the tires are 245/40-19. Tires for them are quite pricey (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?autoYear=2010&autoMake=Honda&autoModel=Accord+Coupe&autoModClar=EX-L+V6&sortCode=57375&width=245%2F&ratio=40&diameter=19&minSpeedRating=H) but i feel i can manage to afford them. The problem lies with winter. Would it be worth putting out the extra money for 17" steel wheels and mounting snow tires on them, or would this car do fine with 19" wheels and all-seasons?

i've never had a manual transmission with this much torque, nor have i had a car with 19" wheels, so i'm a bit paranoid about it. With the way this car whips around, i could easily see it being problematic if not driven carefully.

Winter is "quickly approaching"?

Its June.

Winter tires do not even go on sale until October and winter tires on their own wheels are ALWAYS infinitely better than any so-called all-season tire.

First off that is not the correct size tires for this car and it did not come with 19 inch wheels. The correct size is 225/50-17. Look in your owners manual and on the drivers door post and you will see that someone has installed aftermarket wheels/tires. The tires on the car now are 3.21% smaller in overall diameter than the OEM tires. Your speedometer is reading 2 mph slow. This is adversely effecting your fuel mileage. Know that a 225/45-19 will work perfectly with the set of tires you now have if that will save you any money. You can go to a auto salvage yard and purchase a set of 17 inch OEM wheels off any Honda and then buy a set of 225/50-17 snow tires and mount them on those wheels to use in the winter on the front of the car. This is acceptable and the 19" will be fine on the rear. Or you can sell these 19" tires and wheels and buy a set of 17" wheels like the ones that came on the car with the correct size tires.

  • How to move my front wheels forward? My car was in an accident recently where I had my tie rod snapped while driving and it threw me into a ditch. All other damage has already be repaired, however, my driver side tire is sitting back 2 inches further towards the rear then it is supposed to. I know there are probably several possible problems, I'm just looking for directions to look as I can't find what could have been damaged or how it adjusts. In case it helps my car is a 1991 Honda Prelude 2.1L SI.
  • Will 2013-2015 Honda Accord Sport 18 wheels fit on my 2014 Accord LX? So I would like to get some OEM Honda Accord sport wheels on my LX but will I be able to just simply switch them? As far as I'm concerned they should but should I worry that the sport Tire is 1.5" larger in diameter and the rim is 2" larger?
  • Will 20 rims fit my honda accord 08 and what size tires should fit? I know 255/35/20 don't fit because I had them on n Damage the tires. The tires were scraping and pilling anytime I run a pothole
  • When should I do an oil change, rotate tires, and balance tires? I purchased a brand new 2013 Honda Civic LX Sedan in just this past february. I'm currently at 7,300 miles. I scheduled an oil change, tire rotation, and tire balance for this upcoming Saturday. Is that too much for a brand new car? I wasn't really sure.
