Why is my car using more gas than average?

I drive a 2007 honda accord coupe.

It needs a tune up

Air conditioning

No details, so how are we supposed to know? Here is a list of things that contribute to poor mileage:

Bad driving habits, particularly fast "jack rabbit" acceleration.
Many short trips that don't allow the engine to warm up to normal temp.
Start /stop city or suburb driving, or driving in heavy traffic.
Tires under-inflated.
One or more brakes dragging.
Using the cheapest gasoline or fuel that has a high concentration of ethanol
Dirty air, oil and fuel filters.
Dirty throttle body or worn fuel injectors.
Engine needs a general tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap etc)
Fuel system leaks or faulty gas cap.
Other faulty parts including O2 sensor, EGR valve or MAF sensor.

Obviously you are incapable of diagnosing any of the above problems except your driving environment, driving habits, tire pressure and the fuel you use. For the other things, have a professional mechanic check it out.

  • Why does it appear used cars are more expensive than new? For example. I'm looking at a 2019 Honda City, new it's $17,990 drive away if I look on car sales the 2017 model is even $19,000. Ok the 2019 is a manual price but that's a huge difference and 2 years on. Please tell me what I'm missing?
  • Using tiptronic to save gas? I have a 2000 Honda Prelude with a tiptronic and I've been shifting the car into 4th gear as early as the computer will let me. This has indeed improved my mileage. I drive around the streets most of the week. But does this have any negative effects on the car? Just wondering.
  • Honda Odssey seems more comfortable than Town Country, is this true? I was comparing these two vehicles online, and the Odyssey seems to be a better fit. In comfort, in reliablity, quality… Etc. Or am I wrong? What do you think? I know times have passed where both of these vehicles have improved, but… I need all the help i can get!
  • Why are their more Honda motorcycles sold than Kawasaki's & Yamaha? When the zx9r came out their were still more fireblades sold even though the zx9r was faster? And it was the same thing with the yamaha R1. Even now Kawasaki's and/or Yamaha still seem to have a little bit more horse power so why would people buy Hondas over Yamaha and Kawasaki? it Can't BE because they are cheaper because harley davidjsons sell more and are more expensive which is fact
