Would it be a bad idea to buy a 2002 Honda Accord?
I need a new car and i found a good deal on a 2002 Honda Accord for $900. I used to have a 2008 Honda Civic but that was stolen a year ago, would a 2002 Honda Accord still be drivable in 2019 or is it junk? It has 118,000 miles. I might buy it. Or would that be a bad idea?
2002 is too old in my opinion, it might be good for someone who only uses it on sundays to drive to church but not for someone who is going to be using it all the time, in my opinion anything older than 2010 is too old. Try to find something 2010 and newer for a quality car. A 17 year old car can't do much.
A 2002 Honda Accord is not a "new car"
Get a cheap new one instead.
For the price, go for it
If the price it too good to be true, it's a scam.
A '02 accord with 118K would be worth more than $3K.
$900.00 is not bad at all. Check what are the things you need to fix of it and find out if it's in good condition or if you have to invest in it.
It depends on your own personal financial situation. Make sure you get it checked out thoroughly by a mechanic first, and if he says it was OK, I would definitely buy it.
Buying any older used car that cheap is a bad idea when you lack the knowledge and experience to properly evaluate it. Obviously you lack that ability or you wouldn't be asking.
Depends on how good you are mechanically, or how much your repair budget is…
I bought a '96 Accord about 5 years ago for $300, put $600 into it (parts only, did about 30 hours of work on it), drove it for a year, borrowed it to a friend for 3 months, sold it for $1,200 and a 50 something inch TV.
That being said, my current car was free, I put $1,500 into it in the first 7,500 miles. I like the car, but gambled on it and still need to put another $500 or so into it to get ahead on maintenance.
It all depends on how much you are willing to dump into it and if you know when to cut your losses and scrap/junk it and move on.
If you buy the car make sure to get a valve adjustment and if it's an automatic change the ATF
- Would it be, a bad idea for me to try and fix a blown head gasket? Its for a honda. Stock d16 aftermarket rims and is 1500 with a blown head gasket. My dad is the best honda mechanic in my town. He would be guiding me through it. Also the car had 137k miles and good paint. How much would it be worth if it was fixed?
- Will my car make it cross country? Can anyone who knows about cars tell me if this is a bad idea? I want to drive to colorado to stay for a few weeks and don't want to fly it will be about.a 1300 mile journey I have a 2002 Honda oddessey tht has 242k miles on it but its been babied its whole life and has a few new parts including a new transmission its seems to drive fine I was just wondering if that seems like a stupid or risky idea to drive it that far
- Is it a good idea to buy a car from a girl that you have crush on? Its a used 95 honda she paid 2,000$ for it. I told her i will give her 1,000 for it. She said she can't do that so i then offered her 3,000 for it then she just looked confused i'm not sure if that is good or bad. So i finally offered her 4,000 for it and she just said that she will think about it.
- Is it a bad idea for me to refinance my original Honda auto loan? My credit has improved over the last 6 months and I would like to refinance in another 6 months or so once I feel more comfortable with my score. BUT is this a bad idea? Will Honda scold me for this when I go to the Service dept for maintenance? Or will other future lenders see me as some sort of unreliable consumer moving forward? I worry about this. Any advice would be great and much appreciated!
