Are American cars more reliable now for a while people were just buying Japanese cars like Hondas and Toyotas?
I really like the new Chevy Malibu, and I'm thinking about buying one but my dad gets mad and says "no! American cars are unreliable just buy a Honda or a Toyota"… Have times changed?
Ford will get you places the first 80k miles, after that youll be towing it
If you are looking for quality, I would go for an old car, or truck.
If it's old enough, it doesn't even need to go through certain procedures.
Depending on the brand I guess. I have always been a Ford girl though, lol
Toyota's are good, so are Honda's, but we should be trying to buy from here I guess.
They are more reliable but still not good as Toyota.
Korean cars are much better also now.
American are not more reliable.
But most cars will last a long time if you take care of them.
Hey
Yes, American brands are more reliable now and most new cars are pretty close in this regard as long as you follow the manufacturers maintenance schedule religiously. BUT the Japanese models still assembled in Japan ARE still superior to American cars and Jap cars assembled in the USA or Mexico.
What is also true is that the belief most Americans now have about Japanese cars being more reliable is so pervasive that they hold their value better. Most American made cars including the Malibu depreciate in value faster. Toyotas hold the stop spot on lowest depreciation, followed by Honda, then Subaru. Nissans have about the same depreciation rate as American cars if that info is of any value to you.
Reliability is a factor of good maintenance
Proper servicing is the key.
Tell your dad that MOST Hondas and Toyotas today are "AMERICAN BUILT" cars, while many Chevrolet products are actually built in Canada or Mexico. The Chevy Malibu is built in China and S.Korea.
American cars are still not as reliable as foreign cars, stick to Toyota or Honda
If you want reliability, buy a Honda, or Toyota, your Dad is right, but if you want a Chevy, buy one
- Why do used Hondas and Toyotas have double the mileage of GM, Ford & Chrysler? Shopping for used car and noticed Hondas and Toyotas typically have 200k or more miles while Big 3 only have 100k for the same price.
- Why are American cars like Chevrolet have become so unreliable? Why do people always recommend a Toyota or Honda over American. I was thinking of buying a Chevy Malibu or Impala but people don't recommended due to being unreliable cars
- What happened to Japanese cruiser motorcycles? Why were they all discontinued? Gone since 2009? Seems like V start, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki all dropped all their bikes of 1400cc-1600cc since 2009. Harley Davidson Dyna and Softail are 1600cc so there only comp is?
- Most reliable American car makes and models? Looking to buy brand new. For daily driving. Preferably 4 door mid-size or compact. Use to drive Nissan and Honda but considering American if good idea.
