Can the Nissan outperform this Honda?
The car is a 1998 Nissan Altima gxe, which I saw for sale. The car I'm comparing it to is my 2003 Honda Element Automatic. Both are equipped 4 speed automatics. Both of them have 130,000 miles. However the biggest difference between these two is the curb weight and the aerodynamic drag. The manufacturer specs claims 150 how, 154 ft lbs torque on the Altima. The Honda produces 160 how, 161 ft lbs torque.
Clearly on paper, the Honda produces more power but my question is how would the Honda do against the Nissan on the freeway? In terms of acceleration, handling and overall performance? Can it keep up with this older car? Is the Honda Element the slowest car on the road or it's just on par with every other normal 4 cyclinder economy cars?
For hp and a few pound feet of torque considering the drivetrain losses that each have. The only real way to see which one is faster would be 1.) see which one weighs the least, and 2.) doing real world performance testing.
Edit: Considering the Element is an aerodynamic brick, get the Nissan
For the hundredth time Mark, yes.
Wow. 98 Nissan Altima is back. 2003 Honda Element and 98 Nissan Altima troll strikes again.
Hi so racing these two is likely yo end in tears for one or the other as one blows up an engine from doing stupid things like racing with worn out old engines.
Which one will burn oil first? My money is on the Nissan. Just aerodynamically you can see one is a brickshithause and the other is NOT. I never race automatics because it is not a race car… Neither is the roadway a race way.
Outperform? You're on a public road. You won't notice any difference.
- Type r honda civic ep3 vs nissan 200sx s14a? What would you prefer and why? Civic is a 2005, nissan is a 2000. Everything else is more or less equal like same mileage at 70000miles same insurance price and same cost at £5000 same condition, owners ect.
- Nissan Altima (2015) vs Toyota Camry (2014.5) vs Nissan Sentra (2015). Which is best ride on the market now? I'm looking to buy a new car 0.0% financing and these are the only companies that offer 0.0% financing on new and old cars. ( i know honda civic is great but they offer 0.9% finance). I want a car that is a smooth ride, fuel effecient and car that will last me a long time. Overall, a good car. These are my top three cars NISSAN ALTIMA, TOYOTA CAMRY and NISSAN SENTRA? which one do you guys think is the best? i'm open to suggestions…
- Can a 2015 honda civic keep up with a nissan altima? Lets say both drivers where two on the freeway, one guy driving a 2015 honda civic and the other one driving a 1998 altima. The driver of the 1998 altima is speeding around 100-105 mph @3500 rpms only. My question is could a honda civic keep up with the old altimas performance? I'm asking bc since the civic isn't in the same class as the altima, i'm wondering how the new civic would do aganisnt the old altima. The altima itself in great mechanical condtion.
- Can Nissan compete with Toyota as a whole? Let's say that Nissan bought Honda or at least 50 percent of Honda. Do you think that Nissan as the second biggest Japanese car brand would be able to top sales if you were mix it in with Honda's reliability and Nissan style in cars?
