Car has a no crank so start?

I have a 95 Honda del sol S. Yesterday I took in the starter and took it to AutoZone where they told me it failed the test. So I installed a new one but I still have a no crank no start. I'm able to turn it on if I pop the clutch on it. Any ideas to what it can be?

Bad wiring

Dead battery? Bad wiring? That's what troubleshooting is for.

On a 95, the positive battery cable which runs to the starter can get so corroded that it needs to be replaced. Also, on the old cable and wires, clean all the connections at the starter with a wire brush, sandpaper, or even a toothbrush before tightening the nuts down on the cable and wire terminal ends. Make sure all the connections are good. Make sure the battery cable is tight on the battery.

Hi so what do you expect if you will not visit a honda dealer for correct diagnostics check.

Checkout Mitsubishi answer. A starter motor when replaced ( unless itself is faulty?) ought to work. We can check normally by jumping direct with power to starter motor ( don't do this if unsure) . Any half decent garage can check power supply to motor .see if we have a clutch pedal inhibitor .ignition. Really fault. They call they guys technicians or auto electricians.

The starter contacts in the ignition switch are the most common failure in that era Honda. It will show up as failure to change the voltage on the starter solenoid contact when the key is turned to the start position.
