2002 honda civic a/c works 20min then compressor shuts off?
The clutch does not engage again until the car sits for some time. Then the whole thing happens again.
Have you checked the system pressures? What's the Low and High pressure readings when the AC is working good? Does the vehicle has overheating problem? Is the blower motor is blowing? Are both fans running when the AC switch is on?
It could be anything: There are relays: Fan relays (2), AC clutch relay, Blower motor relay. There are AC pressure switch, Radiator fan switch, Compressor thermal protector sensor, Evaporator temperature sensor, the Multiplex controller (For communication serial line), Loose/ Burnt connections, incorrect AC clutch gap etc
Anything that sticking or quit when heats up. You'll have the answers to all of my questions before I can guide you to the right path to find out the cause and how to correct the problem.
Anyway go to this site and download the Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your Civic for free. Choose the Civic 02-03 manual. If you need software to open the d/l manual, let me know and I'll send it to you through E mail (Avoid the copyrighted)

- My 2000 Honda Civic shuts off? While going down the road and the interior lights will flicker. The check engine light is on so I took it to advance auto and they said that I've got a bad transmission sensor and a bad O2 sensor. Would the transmission sensor cause the car to shut off while driving down the road?
- My 2000 Honda Civic EX shuts off when driving it, sometimes it'll start back up but sometimes it won't I got my tail pipe and muffler replaced. I also got the catalytic converter and MAP sensor replaced in my car as well. My dad believes it could be the fuel filter, but we have no clue what it really is.

Took it to the shop and they said the AC compressor overheated and caused the belt to start running incorrectly. They want 1000 bucks. Can I get a bypass pulley and do it that way?

The O2 sensor has been changed I took off the catalytic converter, I reset the computer and my car still will not run still. I'm not sure where to start looking for another problem.
