2007 Honda Civic coin tray?

I just got a new used car (2007 Honda Civic) and it doesn't have a coin holder besides an assortment of random holes instead of slots of specific coins. I would prefer to have my coins organized but I don't want to have my cup holders taken up by those coin holders in the shape of a cup and I don't want some random coin holder flying around my car I prefer to have something that fits in one of those random holes but any solution would be acceptable.

Well, if it's a *missing* tray (and this may not be much of a hobbiest approach), I'd call around and find a local wrecking yard that has a couple of 2007 Civics and scavenge an replacement part there. My older Honda had a nice built-in coin tray, and doing a quick Google search it looks like some more recent models may or may not, and presumably you've thought of that anyway.

If not, maybe you could line the recess with a plastic shopping or garbage bag and fill it with expanding foam to make a mold, and then use that as a template or even fashion the foam itself into some kind of removable holder. You might use magnets to hold it in place if you can't fashion a slide for it. Another possibility is finding an old sliding ash tray that is a close fit and modifying that. Or, if you have an available stereo slot and *really* want to go overboard, you could gut an old computer CD player (with the extending disk holder) and make a fancy holder out of that.
