Can i remove the power locks from my 1998 honda civic?

Added (1). My power locks do not work properly anymore, it takes many presses before the doors finally unlock. It didn't used to be like that when i first got it and i know its not the battery because i have recently put in a new one. It seems to be the connection between the remote and the car. I also can't use my key without the remote as the alarm will sound and the engine doesn't start. Is there an easy way of removing it? If not how would i go about doing this?

Is the alarm for the car OEM or After Market? The radio has to be OEM radio in order for the key-less system working order. Unless the after market stereo system installed by an audio professional (He knows how to by-pass it).

According to the description, the remote/ key fob need to be replaced. Are the locks unlock/ lock alright with the vehicle lock/ unlock button? Is so like I've said: You'll need another key fob. Make it two if that's the only key fob you have.

Look into this link and pull the 'Security' fuse to disable the alarm. (Hope so):

and read this thread:

Use this link to order your new key fobs. The site has also the instruction how to program the new key fobs for the "Key-less" system or your vehicle alarm, locking system. You can try on the old remote now and see if it taking care of the problem:

When I have time tonight, I'll look for the procedure how to completely by-pass the OEM alarm system and will come back to update the answer. Anyway, look on the back side of the remote, there's an FCC # I need that number to get the right procedure to disconnect the alarm system (If the alarm is an After market system)

Edit: If you prefer, you can try these sites out to down load the procedure once you have that FCC# to find out what after market alarm system: www.remotesunlimited.com - www.keylessride.com or www.autotechs.com to identify what you have there, and see if you can go to the manufacturers website to get the manual info or download, or get one from them if available.
