Car stopped at red light tonight, engine still running?
I have a 1997 Honda Civic. Anyone know what this problem could be and if it's worth fixing?
I was at a red light but when I hit the accelerator to go forward it wouldn't move. I restarted the car, it worked, and drove about a tenth of a mile before the car just stopped going forward again. Fortunately I did this a few times and managed to get home since I was only like a mile from the house.
Basically… If you push on the gas the engine revs up, but when you put it into drive, nothing happens. But if you turn it off for a few minutes and restart, you can get the car moving for maybe 20 to 30 seconds and then it stops moving again (as though someone threw it into neutral)… But the engine is still running.
I'm going to have it towed to a dealer in the morning and have a feeling this car is done for. Any possible last thoughts before I throw down money on a new car?
Added (1). Oh, the engine light was on, too.
Check your oil and your transmission fluid level
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Fog light stopped working after installed LED light? Hi, I have a 2013 Honda Fit and recently installed the led headlight on my car, but my fog light stopped working. Anyone know why and how to fix it? I'm assuming the fog light and headlight are in the same circuit so once I installed the led the voltage changed?
- Honda crv 1998, automatic. Engine light came on yesterday. Still on today? Car cranks slower ever since engine light came on. Other then that car works fine. Last year I had my spark plugs changed and timing belt
- My 2001 Honda Civic stopped running? I was having trouble getting up hills and past 20 mph and then on the highway it stopped accelerating. I also was having trouble getting it into 2nd gear, it would grind hard. So I got it towed to the shop and they can't even inspect it because it won't drive at all. They want me to pay for a new clutch, but I have to wonder if I'll be paying for a new transmission or engine next. Can anyone help me out here?
