Car vs suv for under 15k?
I need help deciding wether to get a car or suv. I would like the car/sub to be reliable and parts cheap also easy to customize. Any suggestions?!
Ps. Please don't say Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.etc…
Added (1). I'm in high school and need a cool car that is easy to customize and insurance is low
SUVs SUCK. Flat out. They are a very bad purchase, unless your other option is to make a pile with the cash you are going to use, and set it on fire, which would at least give you some heat and light for a while.
Most late model vehicles don't have long and cheap supplies of parts, so no matter which way you go, a guarantee of cheap parts isn't on the table for you.
People who buy vehicles on looks over their utility and reliability have a proper name: Poor. Made so by the waste of money buying the wrong vehicle and having to repair it again and again.
Get a Kia Rio.
Older Honda Accord coupe. Get the V6 with a manual transmission. They're very fast, easily customizable, and it won't break the bank. Parts are cheap and easy to get. I wouldn't get an SUV unless you live in the boondocks.
The thing with SUVs is you are more likely to end up with a beat up and worn out example than a car. Just get a car unless you really need the utility.
Subaru or Nissan then.
Or buy some American POS that will break down all the time.
Honda works for car or suv civic or accord coupes made 2008 or later are reasonable but you could get a 2007 crv which is the new generation so it doesn't look very old and there's the 2009 pilot which can be a strain on the wallet and will find one rarely for 15k Nissans that work in the same class are reasonable too and American cars in the same class are good too, unreliability is a huge stereo type. Don't buy a Toyota though, yes there are good but are way over priced when compared to Honda.
A car is going to be naturally cheaper than an SUV, with less miles and will be newer as SUV's are bigger, have bigger engines, etc. So they will cost more and should/usually keep value. You can get a 2010 Cruze for around that, but for 15k you'd be getting an 03-06 SUV (depending on what model and make you buy, features and the mileage)
Mazda CX-7 or Honda CR-V. I think they are the best options for the first car and SUV.
- What damage is possible from a construction cone riding under the front portion under the car? I was traveling doing about 55 mph and could not swerve to avoid hitting a construction cone. It hit under my car and dragged until I could pull over and pry it loose. I could not see too well under the car. I have a Honda Fit

- Which mini SUV is better for gas mileage and longevity? I have been looking at mini SUV's/crossovers and have narrowed down my choices to these 3: Nissan Rogue, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester. Keep in mind that I'm not buying a brand new one from the year 2014 or 2013. I'm looking at the years 2010 - 2012. So which is the overall better choice?
