Cylinder 2 misfire 2014 Honda Civic?
Suddenly lost power on my car a few days back. Began accelerating very slowly. Check engine light came on. Ran diagnostic that read cylinder 2 misfire. I figured it was spark plugs since I have been on my original part for 118k miles. Replaced them, cleared my check engine light, and the car ran fine for 5-10 seconds then the same problem happened again. I'm figuring the next step would be replacing the ignition coil to see if that does the trick. Looking for advice first.
Could be a bad electrical connection at the fuel injector.
I believe it has separate coils, swap the #2 & #3 and see what happens. If that doesn't do it, swap injectors.Troubleshooting can be done without spending money.
Pilsner Man is correct. There's one coil for each cylinder on the vehicle. By swapping the coils, you can identify a bad coil if the misfire moves from one cylinder to another, however if the misfire remains in the same position, try doing a resistance check on the corresponding injector. You'll need to figure out the exact ohm specification for your injectors as I don't know them off hand. It should only read so many ohms if the injector is good. If you get infinite resistance, the injector is internally open and will need to be replaced.
All Honda's need their valves adjusted every 60,000 miles. Only use NGK or Denso brand spark plugs!
First swap that coil to a different cylinder and see if the misfire goes along with it, confirming the coil is the problem.
Take it to a certified mechanic the has the proper equipment to diagnose the problem.
- What is better a 2014 Honda Civic or 2014 Toyota Corolla? I'm looking at these cars in terms of price and more "bang for your buck." Both seem interesting to me and I have yet to test drive them. The Honda Civic seems like it is the better car based on reviews but the newly redesigned Toyota Corolla looks better than previous versions and is slightly cheaper than the Civic. Which one should I consider looking towards? Please do not mention any other car, I'm only focused on these two at the moment.
- Should i buy a Scion 2014 or a Honda Civic si 2014 Sedan? I like both cars, My reason for liking the Tc is that the Car looks nice and its sport and inexpensive. However, The fact that its a Coupe and it only has 179 horsepower that just throws it off right there. I like the honda civic si because it offers 4 doors and its looks nice.
- I have a 99 honda civic si I did a compression test and suspect it has low compression because of misfire? So the first one came out as.180. Second one 180… Third piston 160… And the last final piston as…180 are my pistons good? Don't mean to sound like a rookie.
- Honda misfire codes 2001 civic, three of 4 cylinders and random misfire any idea? Car actually runs fairly good but I see the misfire come on while driving I checked compression, seems fine all cylinders new plugs, new air filter, cleaned throttle assembly checked by pulling spark plugs one time no dead cylinder gross check on injectors didn't see anything two cans of injector cleaner 1 can seafoam in gas tank changed oil any good suggestions?
