I'm going to change the head gasket on my 2004 honda civic what do I need?
Do I need the whole gasket kit or can I just buy the head gasket itself
Reason the do a kit is it's never simply a head gasket needing replacing. Disturbing other components is needed and they too use gaskets.
You need torque wrench and workshop manual for correct dismantle and reassemble with torque stages and specs.
Don't try to replace a head gasket if you never have done one before, you will just have to play twice as much to get it done correctly. No insult but there are so many thing which can go wrong. Like having the head checked out and machined, then the re-torquing sequence must be done perfectly.
- How much is an 89 honda prelude si with blown head gasket worth? I have an 89 honda prelude si with almost 200k miles on it. Interior 10/10 exterior a 6/10. Head gasket is blown but still runs and drives good. All stock. How much is it worth? In boise id by the way
- Worth buying a honda civic si with replaced head gasket? Looked at a 2008 honda civic si that has 73,000 miles the car was flawless inside and out. Then the owner told me it blew the original HG. He took it to a machine shop and then did the rest of the work himself. And now runs fine. Is this car still worth buying or should I walk away?
- Honda Civic 2000 blown head gasket. Worth fixing? I have a Honda Civic 2000 4door and I believe I had blown a head gasket. It isn't running and its leaking water/coolant. I'm not sure if it is worth fixing or just selling and moving on. Also not sure how much it would be.
- After replacing timing belt, water pump, head gasket on 1992 Honda civic with a d15b7 it shifts harder? Changed the head gasket the other day. Had the head re-done and all. Runs great but shifts up and down harder. Any ideas how to fix this?
