Honda Civic Automatic Transmission?
The family has a 2001 Civic with 305,000Km and the automatic transmission is starting to break. I want to replace it instead of rebuilding it. I found a used automatic transmission from a store that imports transmissions from Japan. It only has about 60,000Km.
But they said its a 3 Speed automatic transmission without overdrive…
Is that going to be a problem? And did Japan use 3 speed automatic transmissions when they made the 01 Civic?
How will a 3 speed automatic differ from my current 4 speed automatic?
On Hondas don't bother with used transmissions they don't have a filter in them and have a very high failure rate. Not sure what to say about trannys from japan but the engines from over there are garbage and never taken care of and aren't meant to last because they are meant to go only 30k miles. I worked on a 99 accord 4cyl. I installed 3 used trannys into it until we finally got a good one.
I'm guessing the 2001 is computer controlled. It won't know how to control a 3 speed if it had a 4 speed in it. You should get a tranny from a local source if you are getting a used tranny.
- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
- Is it hard to do an oil change on a 1992 honda prelude automatic transmission? So i have an automatic 92 honda prelude. Its a 2.2l engine non vtech, and I've been wondering if i should do an oil change on the tranny. Main questions i have are, is it hard? Would i need to change the filter? Or simply just drain out the oil and add new oil in? Any help will be well appreciated. I want to do this on my own i don't want to spend over 100 dollars at an auto shop lol.
- Honda Amaze automatic or Hyundai Xcent automatic? Which would be better purely in terms of performance, acceleration, smooth and fast gearshifts and handling, i mean the better drivers car. I know hondas transmission and engines are great, but is the hyundai as good too? Even though the xcent has only 4 gears, i.e. 1 less than the amaze, it has tiptronic, would this by any chance improve the driving experience? I sadly don't have the opportunity to test drive these cars.
- Will starter from an automatic 2000 Honda civic LX fit on a automatic 2000 Honda civic HX? The lx is a 5 gear transmission and the hx is a CVT transmission. With the starter fit? Mine went out on my hx
