Honda Crz good for a teen? I know everything about the car, but still need some wiser opinions?

So as of now, I'm 17, and getting a car in two months. I've been looking at cars for a year and a half now, and have decided I want a Honda CRZ badly. The only things holding my parents back is that its a bit small.(safety) I get that i should start with a standard civic or wha but i just want something unique, not just another standard car. Also, insurance. I've read everywhere that itll be either high or low. High because its a newer car, plus its a two door car. Low because its part hybrid,(I'm not sure if insurance companies consider it a hybrid) and low because well, it has two seats only. (Less seats means less teens driving with you.) its a pretty underpowered car, only 130 hp. But i've read too many blogs and articles and opinions to know what is right any more. I don't care if its fast or whatever, i just love the mileage, and the interior, and the look, and somewhat decent practicality. Any advice? Is it a good first car?

Btw i'm a male, and live in Georgia. Id be getting a blue or silver 2011 Crz.(They say red costs more on insurance)

Added (1). i forgot to add! I'd be getting it used! And i'm going to be on my parent's insurance.

It is a safe vehicle, however only accommodates two people.
