How to put a big engine in an old civic and how expensive is it?

I'm a long time civic lover and have a perfect 1989 honda civic with plenty of money to blow on it and want to make it as fast as possible. Its 5 speed standard with a swapped engine on it. What kind of Engine would you consider putting in? What will i have to do to the transmission ect. Price too please.

That is really a lot to answer. Street legal or not?
As fast as possible, how about a Jet engine?
Anything from V6 to V8 to Corvette engines, dual turbo etc. Etc.
You will most likely have to replace the tranny to match the power of the motor. The only remaining Civic on it will be the body.

Just look up Honda forums, since there are actually people who had done this, they will be the one to know. Since shops don't do much of this type of work since they are not practical unless the owner sheds a lot of money to it.

Find out the engine family, what motor will fit your bell housing, may need to be refereed if in cali, if so needs to be newer than the veh you put it in, has to have all systems (smog) working, has to be certified by referee station in cali

I would go with a built b16a dual overhead cam vtech puts out 200 stock i believe of coarse you can put different cams cold air intake or a turbo kit. Can easily get 400hp with that configuration
