I'm a little confused about my brakes for my 1996 Honda Civic EX?
I need to get my brakes replaced but I'm a little confused. I know the front uses brake pads, but does the rear/back also use brake pads? Or should I be purchasing something else for the back?
The best thing to do is crawl under the car and look. The chances are it has brake shoes on the rear.
I looked up your model online local auto parts store, it looks as though you have four wheel disc brakes that calls for pads. If you have rotors then it is disc brakes and calls for pads, if it has drums then it calls for brake shoes.
If you can't get under the vehicle and look to see if there are drums or rotors in the rear believe me you should not be working on your own car!
