Added (1). The guy I bought the car from said the flywheel is bad. I took it to a shop they said automatics do not have flywheels. Now the 2nd shop says the starter is out and possibly the flywheel. I need to know if i should purchase both the starter and flywheel or just the starter?
The flywheel has a set of teeth around the outside. This is where the gear on the end of the starter motor engages, and turns the engine over to start it. It's possibe the there's wear or damge to both the gear on the starter motor AND the teeth around the flywheel.
But it's impossible to be certain until the mechanic takes the starter motor out and can look at the ring gear. The starter motor is a relatively simply job, the flywheel is a bigger mission as the transmission needs to be removed to access it.
If the seller told you the flywheel was bad, I'd tend to believe it is. Hope you got the car cheap…

My goodness. Flywheel is only apply to manual transmission. Your car is an automatic so it has a torque converter. Manual trans. Does not have a torque converter and automatic trans. Does not have a flywheel.
