Is it a good idea to trade in your car at a dealership?
I own a 2009 Honda Civic, I still owe money on it, I want to trade it in for a cheaper car because the other car cost $14,000.
I was looking for gas mileage so I wouldn't mind trading it in for an older Honda Civic or something similar that gets good gas mileage.
Is this a smart idea?
If I do go through with it I would have my 2009 Honda Civic taken to a place to have the interior and exterior restored
No, it is not a good idea to trade down, specially if you still owe money on it.
How is it possible that an older Civic has better mpg? I thought newer models are better, unless the older Civic has a much smaller engine.
You will need to pay it off first. Before you can trade it in. Plus you will loose money invested on your current car just to get an older car. The trade in value is much lower compared to just selling the car yourself to a private individual.
