Low oil pressure light on at idle?

04 honda civic manual
Really need some help
After I drive for about 20 mins when I come to a stop my car idles really low and the low oil pressure light flickers,
Got my IAC replaced a week ago & got my idle speed raised, still same problem. Car has stalled a couple times also.

Two possible reasons; the obvious first, have you checked your oil level recently using the dip stick? If you have and the level is OK when did you last change the oil.

Second option: The idle speed is too low and not driving the oil pump.

Check oil level make sure its at a normal level, (change oil if it has been a while since your last oil change. ) chances are you need a new oil pressure switch (Very common for them to go bad) you should check the oil pressure to make sure that your oil pump is doing a good job ( not common for them to go bad). Now for the car stalling. When was the last time you did a tune up? (Plugs, wires, Fuel filter, air filter and clean the throttle plate, and put cleaner in your gas tank ( I use sea foam "for gas and diesel engines " 1/3 through intake vacuum hose, 2/3 in gas tank) you take off the vacuum hose and you have someone the car keeping it running about 1500 to 2000 rpm and you control how much cleaner goes in at. You want to block most of it with your finger and sip it ( do not emerge the hose you just want it barely over the fluid and it goes in slowly.) make sure the engine is at normal operating temp before you do it and as soon as the cleaner is gone have them shut it off. Reconnect the hose and wait for about 5 minutes for cleaner to work. Now start the car and take it for a ride come on to it a little here and there. After it clears up(Exhaust really smokes on some cars/ build up) now that is all done clear codes (It causes misfires when sipping but it will be okay) if you have build up inside you will feel the difference as in more power and better gas mileage.

The problem is related to engine RPM, not oil pressure. The light is just doing it's job, telling you oil pressure is low. Once below idle oil pressure drops very quickly. Clue to anyone who disagrees: the poster states oil pressure drops when engine RPM does, and the engine stalls… It's not an oil pressure problem. Oil pressure is a symptom.

You don't adjust idle on a fuel injected vehicle, whatever was done by whoever screwed with the idle needs to be undone, and whatever the REAL problem is, needs fixed.

  • 2006 Honda Pilot oil stick showing low oil? The car has absolutely no obvious leaks and its not burning oil we bought a new stick and changed the oil but yet it's still (stick only) showing as low oil, what could be the issue? Is the stick (bought new one from dealership ) the issue or can it be leaking out somewhere that's not in plain view? I'm taking it to mechanic next week but I'm trying to see if I could get Tips Here first. The car runs perfectly fine, no obvious issues.
  • Karcher Honda Pressure Washer 2400psi Low Pressure? Hello every one I have a Karcher Honda Pressure washer 2400psi, when every I pull the trigger the first time it works fine. Then when I take the vavle unloader and the end where the air filter is on the pump, it works after a while for only one trigger pull. What's wrong?
  • Will a oil pressure sensor cause a 1999 honda civic not to crank if oil is low? While I was driving I noticed it wouldn't go any faster while I was going about 60mph but I felt the transmission spinning and the revs were high I then pulled over and put the car in Park and noticed the engine wasn't on Or Is it seized?
  • What do low oil pressure, charging system and malfunction indicators mean? I have a 2009 honda accord with quite a few miles on it. Right now, the engine won't start (makes a loud thud and the ignition won't click) and the low oil pressure, charging system and malfunction indicators are all lit up. There's no oil in the car as a rock ripped a sizable chunk out of the oil pan. Will I need a new engine and what do these indicators mean when they are simultaneously lit?
