My 2000 honda civic was smoking?

Yesterday I showed my mom the engine. (Which was a mistake). She pulled out the oil reader thing and it came out. However we managed to put it back on there. Today however, I was driving and I noticed my car was smoking. The engine is clean and whatnot but when I opened the good to see it, It was smoking in the air the oil reader was. Now the weird thing is my engine reader was on co the whole time.

It's called a dipstick.

99% of smoking issues on a honda civic are due to a leak from the valve cover gasket. The smoke you see coming out of the dipstick tube is normal in most cases, if the engine isn't running the PCV system isn't pulling the gasses out of the block.

Could be multiple things, there could be an oil leak somewhere that displays itself on the engine and burns off creating the smoke, your radiator could not be working properly, something caught in your fire wall, etc. Id get it evaluated and diagnosed. Often times a little smoke can be nothing more than engine functioning.

Sometimes a muffler bearing will lock up and cause these symptoms, have it checked by a good mechanic.
