POSSIBILITY OF OVER CHARGING MY AC?

I HAVE A HONDA CIVIC EX 04 I ADDED SOME R-134A BUT WHEN I HAVE MY AC ON THE CAR SEEMS TO WANNA DIE COULD THIS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS WASN't DOING IT BEFOR?

You already know the central problem: you don't know whether the system is overcharged. Those kits have destroyed countless compressors for just that reason - it is not possible to tell if the system is overcharged with a pressure gauge and even small amounts of overcharge will spill slugs of liquid refrigerant out of the evaporator into the compressor, where it has the same effect that chewing on rocks has on teeth.

You have no choice but to leave it off until you have it professionally serviced. I would bet heavily it is seriously overcharged.

Sounds like you put too much in. Have pro put a gauge set on it and check your high side pressure.

The ac clutch cycling pressure switch might be defective. The operation of this switch will cause occasional slight changes in engine speed and power, but it shouldn't cause the vehicle to die. There's also a sensor mounted to the throttle body called a IAC or EACV which could also be causing your issue. It bypasses air around the throttle body and it increases idle rpm during cold starts and anytime the ac is on. Some of these can be removed and cleaned with carb cleaner.Carbon will cause the internal plunger to stick which won't allow enough air to bypass the throttle body.It may be dirty or it may be defective. Try to clean it first. Check the bearing in the ac compressor too. If its binding up, excess drag will cause idle to drop. The pulley should spin freely. The compressor clutch may also be malfunctioning causing excess drag.Grab the pulley and make sure it doesn't move inwards or outwards much or clunk when you move it in and out. The compressor clutch also has a bearing that can go bad.Remove the wiring harness from the cycling pressure switch on drier, insert a jumper wire across both of the harness terminals and the ac clutch will engage.See if this causes the idle/stalling problems to go away. If it does, the pressure switch is defective.Don't leave the wire inserted for a long time because the compressor will run nonstop until you remove the wire.

  • I have a 1994 honda shadow vlx 600. I've been having charging issues? Could someone have put the positive and negative wires that connect to the battery on the wrong sides? All the batteries online look the same as this one and the cover on the bike only lets you slide it in one way (where the pos is on the right and the neg is on the left).
  • 1982 honda nighthawk cb750 charging issue? Ello everyone, i have a 82 750 nighthawk and i'm not to sure what to do with her, the battery, when charged, will keep the bike running but once its dead, so is the bike. We had a local shop change out the complete charging system, stator blah blah and a year later its back to its old tricks. What do you think it is? Is there anyway to be sure?
  • 2016 Honda Civic phone charging issue? The USB outlet that is used for carplay/androidauto an under the center console is charging my phone very slow. They used to work just fine. They still connect and work but the charging issue is starting to bother me. Is there something I can do or should I take it into the dealership?
  • What do low oil pressure, charging system and malfunction indicators mean? I have a 2009 honda accord with quite a few miles on it. Right now, the engine won't start (makes a loud thud and the ignition won't click) and the low oil pressure, charging system and malfunction indicators are all lit up. There's no oil in the car as a rock ripped a sizable chunk out of the oil pan. Will I need a new engine and what do these indicators mean when they are simultaneously lit?
