Separate Keys for Ignition / Doors = Stock?

I just bought a 2002 honda civic coupe LX and it has a separate key from the door locks and the ignition. I have to bring both keys to use the car the door keys only works on the doors and the ignition key only works for ignition. Can it just be a single key?

Definitely NOT "stock". All Hondas have one key for both ignition and doors - (although Accords have a valet key as well). Clearly, your vehicle was stolen or was broken into at some point, and the ignition lock cylinder was damaged and replaced on the cheap.

If you have the original key code or can have the dealer look it up for you, you could have the car re-keyed to just have one key, but it will not be cheap - at least a couple hundred.

Yes, but it would involve replacing the ignition cylinder. Figure maybe $ 120 bucks? You still interested?

Older cars always had 2 different keys. Just get used to it and put 2 keys on your key chain.

It probably has a new ignition switch, which is why the keys don't match. A locksmith can change the door locks to match the ignition, couldn't tell you the price.
