Should I trade my car in?

I bought a 2011 honda civic and it's a nice car just got it in march and I really want to trade it in at the same dealer I went to and get something else like a camaro will they refinance me? Is it worth it?

If you have good credit and some cash money they will love for you to come in and do a trade.

You paid retail price for the Civic. They will give you a whole trade in price. Probably a couple of thousand less than you paid. Then you pay full retail for the Camero, plus Tax, Title, and Registration Fees all over again. You would end up paying around $3000 more even if both cars have about the same retail value.

Worth it or not depends on how much you hate the Civic and love the Camero. Depends on how much money you have burning a whole in your pocket.

They willprobably refinance you, if your credit is good. Is it worth it? That depends how much you still owe on the Honda. These numbers are just an example:: but say you bought the Honda for $14,000 in March. This is middle of May., so you have made maybe 2 payments? So you probably owe $13,000 or more. They may give you a trade in value of $8000,00 for the Honda. Now the Camero is $15,000. When you finance it, they will add what you still owe on the Honda, which now is $5000.00 So now the camero is going to cost you $20,000. I would say No its not worth it. Depending what you actually paid and what you still owe, The camero may cost you way more than its worth.

The Honda Civic is a very good car and have a very good reputation. It sounds like you have already made up your mind to just trade it in. Keep in mind however that you will get less for it as a trade in than you would if you were to sell it out right. They have to resell it at a profit, so they would give you much less than you would get if you sold it out right. Look at the Blue book value online and it will show you exactly what I'm trying to explain here. However IF you do not want the hassle of selling it and the haggling with people it may be worth the loss to you to just trade it in.

  • Would you trade a 2014 car for a 2007 car straight up? I own a 2014 Honda Civic but it's too cramped and too underpowered for me. I want to trade it for a larger car with more room a 2007 Honda Element instead. Both have around 100,000 miles. After taxes and DMV fees, the Element would cost about the same as what I would get on the Civic. So do you think this is a fair trade?
