Which car should I purchase? Used or new?

I'm looking into purchasing a car for my graduation. I have $18,000, and I'm 18 years old. The cars I'm interested are the 2014 honda civic coupe exl, this option I would be financing, as I do not have the full amount the car is ($23,000). Also I looked at a 2008 328i BMW that same certified dealership had for sale, it is $15,500. My question is which should I decide on? With the Honda Civic I would not be able to pay it off fully which would mean I would have a monthly note, the note would not be that high to my understanding, not over $200. But the BMW on the other hand I could fully pay off with my amount. I'm getting the insurance under my mother and have got quoted already so that won't be in issue. Actually the BMWs insurance rate was a little bit lower, due to the fact the civic is a coupe and the bmw is a sedan. What would you suggest me to go with? I've heard that BMWs can be quite expensive. Repairs and maintenance I have to keep in mind as well as it taking premium gas. The mileage 70,517. I've test drove both already. Which would be a better option in your opinion?

The civic will be cheaper in the long run. The civic might be more expensive, but it is a reliable car. BMWs are expensive to maintain. My father had a used BMW sedan and by the second year he decided to sell it because the maintenance was so expensive. Trust me, pick the civic. BMW is a nightmare with maintenance.

Aren't you going to college? Buy something cheaper and pay cash, don't borrow money. You can get a nice used car in the teens.

A used BMW will cost you a fortune over the long haul.

Get a 2 or 3 year old Honda or Toyota, not a nearly seven year old BMW. It will be cheaper in every way and last you longer. It will also be better in the winter if it snows where you live.

Buy a cheaper car & save your money.

I would invest in a used car… However not the one you are looking at… I on the other hand would buy for no more than 10grand
Honda civic
Chevy envoy suv
Chevy lumina
Nissan altima or acura
Lincoln navigator
Dodge ram or Ford f150
All used anywhere from 70,000 -120,000 miles
Very very reliable cars and not bad insurance… Look for used ones on craigslist in your area not a dealership

O.K. Listen up.,
Buy a off lease most probably it will have a remainder on the factory guarantee as well as a option to extend the guarantee and you still save big bucks.
I did it with a enterprise rent a car only one year old and walked away with a 8 years 84,000 mile repair factory guarantee bumper to bumper w/only a 100. Deductible. Bought if from a chrysler dealer it was a van with stow and go seats have it 5 years and it's great.

Used because you will save money and if you end up buying a mercedes, bmw, or something like that be prepared for expensive repairs… Most local repair shops won't know how to fix that and it will be expensive if they do but not nearly as much a dealer would cost…

Old one
