Does crawling up to speed use more gas?
I have been getting terrible gas mileage on my 99 honda crv and i've been driving slow and very paced, but i've noticed that when I drive normally and i get up to third gear my mileage somwhat improves.
Generally, no. Faster acceleration burns more fuel. Speed consistency will give you the best fuel economy, regardless of MPH.
No, it doesn't.
Try changing your air filter and spark plugs
The more time you spend in high gear the better.
Not as much as driving up a mountain which requires more effort on the engine therefore mote gas consumption
That's because driving it slow is no good for the motor. Have you been adjusting your valves every 60,000 miles. All Honda motors have an issue with the valves getting tight and that kills the gas mileage and causes a rough idle and loss of power.
- Honda owners: is there a difference in top speed between 4 speed and 5 speed element? My car is an 03 auto awd ex. I'm just curious, what top speed before drag effect comes into Affect? Can it achieve over 100 mph? I've heard that it can do 1-10 but I'm not sure whether that's for the 5 speed or the automatic bc the extra gear makes a difference in my opinion.
- Freeway driving more difficult to drive speed limit than to speed? Driving on freeway slower its more difficult than driving faster is it because the car is lighter or higher rpms give you more control or what i drive a fwd stock Honda thanks it's a lot easier to drive at 80 than 60
- Why does my 2007 Honda Civic use so much gas? I bought this car from my dad, it has 135,000 miles, and it is guzzling gas. I went through a quarter of a tank by just driving around town when my dad uses much less than that to drive to work and back which is about 100 miles. It is well maintained, and i just don't know the problem. Do people still do tune ups, maybe that is what i need. I'm not sure someone please give me suggestions.
- What will waste more gas, Clogged Cat or Non Cat converter? Does a Honda civic waste more gas if the catalytic converter is clogged or a civic without a catalytic converter (pipe only)? Or what?
