Problem w/ my car suddenly jolting and decelerating?
I got a 2002 Honda CR-V 3 weeks ago. As I was driving on the freeway last week, my car suddenly jerked and started decelerating, then after 5-10 seconds, it sped up again, then did the same thing. Luckily I arrived home but then the check engine light came on. What could be the reason for this?
It would be worth your while to have someone read the engine codes. Places like Pep Boys and AutoZone will do that for free.
Without anymore information… I might guess that you had a bit of contaminated fuel that had to work its way through the system. But it could be something more serious.
How about going to an auto parts store and getting the codes read. Then post the actual codes here and we can try to help.
Read the trouble codes with a scan tool. Could be a bad speed sensor.
Top guess is the ignition switch. Honda had serious problems with them in the early 2000s. If the oil pressure and charging system lights do not come on after two or three seconds of power loss (of course it will happen again) you know it is the switch. The jerk, rather than a fraction of a second powering down, make me think ignition rather than fuel.
I agree it is useful to see what the check engine light is about as well. If there's a crank sensor code you have a hot suspect.
- Motorcycle choke stopped working suddenly? I have a 1986 Honda rebel 450 that has never had a problem starting. I always use the choke if its cold and its always worked perfectly. However, the today when the bike was running, i put the choke on to see if it was working and it had no effect on the idle whatsoever. I now can't start my bike easily since the choke doesn't work. Does this sound like a bad choke cable? Is a choke cable the same as a throttle cable? I can't find them anywhere.

Have to kick more than 5 times sometimes! What's the issues and how do i fix it? Carburetor is clean and there's a fuel filter between the tank and the carb. And fuel goes clean! is it the spark plug or CDI Unit?

- My car suddenly making lawn mower noise? I drive my car everyday, at least an hour, maybe accelerate more than I should. I was driving and then stopped, had my car sit in one place for a few minutes turned it off then turned my car on a little bit after and now when you accelerate it sounds like a lawn mower or small semi, even at 20 mph. It seems to be coming from the left side of the motor around where you can check the oil. I have a 2006 Honda Civic.
