Should I get a Jeep or am I crazy?

I currently own a 2012 Honda Fit with 17,500 miles, with an automatic trans. It's worth about $13,500 and I owe $1000 less than that on it. I recently learned how to drive stick and I'm finding myself wanting a vehicle with manual transmission, particularly a jeep wrangler (since I'd probably kill myself in a Trans-Am or Mustang within 48 hours). I saw one for sale for $9,500 at a small dealership, a 2001 with 135,000 miles, straight 6, hard top. I'm trying to get rid of some debt in the process, but would I be crazy to switch vehicles in this situation?

First get rid of your debts and then follow your inner voice.

Honda Fit is correct English. "jeep wrangler: is INCORRECT English. What happened? You got all of the other brands and model names correctly capitalized. The next subject is as to car transmissions. IF you have a Honda Fit with an automatic transmission, short of a hybrid drive car, this vehicle delivers a substantial amount of miles per gallon, has a nice size cargo area, tiny wheels that match the tiny engine. Where have you learned to drive a manual transmission vehicle? What you are experiencing is performance that gives you thrill. This is not related to the transmission. The Honda Fit also comes with a manual transmission. Next, cost. You owe $12,500 on this car? And without writing down amounts, amounts of cash for down payment, taxes, etc, or even if you qualify for a $24,000 loan or if the payment is going to break the bank, PLUS, I can assure you that your fuel bill and repairs and service costs and expenses shall TRIPLE with the Jeep. The term "crazy" is not correct. "Delusional" is correct. "Financially challenged" is another. The consequences would be that you would probably not be able to make the payments and lose the car and you shall be in financial ruin. Keep the Fit and I may have doubts if you can manage it.

Jeeps are really nice, go for it

The kelly blue book on your honda is $!000-$11,800 in good condition. Thats trade in value. So the dealer may offer you $9000-$10,000. He is going to make a profit on it or he won't deal. You may talk him down to $8500 on the jeep, which will still leave you almost $4000 on you present loan for the Honda. So now the jeep is going to cost you over $12,000. NOT worth it. Now 135,000 mile is a lot on a jeep. Has it been beat in the mountains or all hiway miles? You won't know that. I've had 3 jeeps in the past. Parts and repairs are expensive. Your gas mileage will be cut in half with the jeep versa the honda. You will be adding to your debt. I would pass and keep the honda…

  • Am i crazy for wanting a supersport motorcycle? I'm 18 and just bought a Honda grom. Rode it for 3 days and I'm enjoying it. Took my msf course and everything. But after riding a friends gsxr 600 i want a supersport myself. Bikes came really natural to me and i still respect them (not the grom) I love adrenaline and the grom already bores me after 3 days and 64 miles. Is this even normal for a first time rider?
  • Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-5, or Honda CR-v? I've been racking my brain trying to figure which car to buy. Honda been having quality issues lately. And I never hear anything about Mazda. Which one should I go for? I'll be taking road trips and I commute to go to school.
  • Should I trade a Honda civic for a jeep liberty? I turn sixteen in a month and got a '93 Honda Civic. I'm considering trading it for a '06 Jeep Liberty. Does anyone know if the jeeps are good cars or not? Some of the reviews I saw said it wasn't but my honda needs a new sunroof, paint job, and other repairs. Do you think it would be a good trade?
  • Should i buy a 94 jeep wrangler or a 99 honda civic? Hi, I'm 16 and looking to buy a car I found a nice Honda in great condition and my dad is trying to buy me a 1994 jeep wrangler that I really don't want. Is there any way to convince him to help me buy the honda. Or should I just get the jeep
