I have a 2001 honda civc and its been running hot. What could it be?

It has water in it also it has coolant and oil

Check to see if any water is getting into the oil. Pull the dip stick and if it's brown, milky, or frothy it's a head gasket leak. The engine isn't being lubed properly so it will get hot. If that's ok, there's a possibility that your radiator is either plugged up from corrosion or is blocked. Given the age of the car it can be anything.

Make sure the fans are spinning, You can do a compression test to check the head gasket health, often on Honda's the heater core can corrode, you can bypass it to check for this.

Head gasket, cylinder head/block cracked. With hondas… Bet a on a cracked head along with blown gasket.

Thermostat playing up would my first thing to check.

Your thermostat controls the temperature of your engine! It might be stuck closed and not allowing the antifreeze to circulate and overheating! It also could be a clogged radiator or the fan not working!
