I have a 85 honda vt700 magna that jumps in and out of 2nd.what could be the problem?
It will shift in gear and stay at a fast idle but give it some gas it jumps in and out of gear.let off gas and it will stay in gear.is there an adjustment for this.
Transmission repair is necessary.
When the shift forks get worn, they don't slide the transmission gears far enough to make a positive lock onto the gear next to it.
That causes the gears to slip out of position.

Probably worn shift dogs but have you tried changing the engine oil and adjusting the clutch, sometimes that can clear it up.
Shift dogs are worn and need to be replaced. Had a GL1000 that the same thing used to happen. No adjustments on this
Bad dog to dog or dog to slot engagement. Time to rebuild the trans, or at least replace parts of it. [slider gear and 2nd gear] either on the main shaft or the counter shaft or maybe both. You won't know until the trans is out and inspected. Damage may be more than this bike is even worth when you figure the parts and labor. One more reason to not buy an import I guess. I like jap bikes but I'm just being real.

- I have a problem with my radiator and antifreeze, What could be the problem? Hi guys I have a Honda civic lx 97, I bought about 7 months ago, since then I have bought a new radiator because the old one had a huge leaking problem, anyways I never new How long a gallon of antifreeze could last me. I now know I use too much (I've bought two gallons once the first time i changed the radiator, again today[spand time of 4 months]) antifreeze I don't see any leakage, what could the problem be?
