Is any luxury car worth it?
I could buy a Mercedes with heated seats, fancy interior, and overall luxury. But is it really worth an extra 20k? Does it get me anything that a Honda doesn't?
No. They call them luxury cars for a reason. They are nothing but a status statement. They offer no benefits other than to say "look how much money I have" all the features they come with are luxuries, aka none essentials.
No for me. Depends on what your priorities are… Personally, id rather spend that money on savings or commit to mortgage since i'm in an apt.
You could extrapolate that argument to a bicycle. It's worth the extra because it's a better car. As you would discover if you drove it. I could buy and run a Porsche, but like you I have other things to spend my money on and my old Citroen Picasso has never let me down in 14 years.
"Is it worth it" is a question you need to answer for yourself. Nobody here knows if anything is "worth it" to you.
Its all about choice and priorities. I like cars. I can afford a New Mercedes… So I have one.
Someone else would say 'waste of money' ! And then go and buy 20 cigarettes for £9…(?)
Status symbol.
Not even close to being worth it to me. But to someone who earns $500k a year, why not buy a new one every 3-4 years?
I carry that to the opposite extreme. I drive a car worth maybe $1500 and have had it for over 10 years now. Some people would say the car is about to die because I always have to repair something about once a year.
I just pay attention to how much I save. And its a lot.
Nope. It gets you the Mercedes name. Actually, if you look at a a car like the Hyundai Genesis, it has MORE luxury and safety features than a typical Mercedes -- at a fraction of the cost.
In the old days buying a luxury car meant getting leather seats, wood dash, good sound system, power everything, and other features that are now common even in many much less expensive car brands. The phrase "luxury car" has lost most of it's former meaning. Now, it's more about "luxury brand" which simply means an expensive name.
Nope. Luxury cars depreciate heavily. All those luxury features are just fluff.
If you had so much money that the price of a luxury car is small change, would you drive a Hyundai?
Why do you think English footballers' favourite car is a Bentley?
Pit a towel inside a driver and you'll have something warm under your but.
- Why is it that some husbands let their wives drive luxury cars while they drive ordinary cars? I've been observing some of my neighbors (one of them is a stay at home mom) and the husbands drive ordinary cars like Honda Accord or Honda Pilot. But the wives tend to drive luxury cars like Acura TSX or Acura RDX (some form of luxury car). What is the reason for this? Why do wives get to drive luxury cars while the husband drives ordinary car? I should say some of them. Its not a problem though but was only curious. The neighbors are Asians actually.
- Good first luxury car for a 16 years old girl to drive to school? I'm turning 16 and I'm looking for a good luxury car around $20,000 to $ 45,000 range. No Honda, Toyota or all Asian cars please Oh and which of these do you think it's better? a) 2012 BMW 5 Series 528i b) 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class c) 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive35i?
- Do you think Genesis will ever gain the status as a true luxury brand? Nissan, Toyota, Honda & Volkswagen all have their luxury brands (Infiniti, Lexus, Acura, Audi) now that Hyundai is trying to enter that market with Genesis do you think they will ever achieve luxury status like these brands?
- What happens if the damage on my car, is worth more than the car itself? I got in a car accident a while ago… I have a 92 Honda civic, which is worth about $2000. The accident wasn't my fault since I got hit from behind. The person who hit me… Her insurance told me that the damage might be worth more than the car when they came to appraise the damage, and that if that's the case… They would have to consider it totaled or something like that. What's supposed to happen? What are they going to do?
