Do you think Genesis will ever gain the status as a true luxury brand?

Nissan, Toyota, Honda & Volkswagen all have their luxury brands (Infiniti, Lexus, Acura, Audi) now that Hyundai is trying to enter that market with Genesis do you think they will ever achieve luxury status like these brands?

Maybe but if they do it will take more than a few years

I'm with John. It will take a while. Hyundai has at least given notice that it's going to have several models in the line, so they know it can't be done overnight. (I saw a G70 yesterday heading home, and it was seriously gorgeous; that helps.)

Yes but it might take a few years, as it did for Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti. I have the Genesis and it's as good or better than any of the other luxury cars, and a lot less expensive. It's much better than my two previous Lexus cars.

I've always felt like if someone wanted a TRUE luxury brand, they would get something better. If they wanted to save money, they wouldn't even consider it. You almost NEVER see a Genesis on the road, and they've been around for a very long time. So at this point I would consider it an experiment that failed.

I'm going to say "no".

Unlike Genesis, there was never a "Toyota Lexus". Lexus was a separate brand and separate line-up from the very beginning, and marketed as such. There was however, a Hyundai Genesis. Even though they've since dropped the Hyundai name and are now trying to market Genesis as a separate and distinct brand, because it was initially marketed as a Hyundai, it will continue to be viewed as a Hyundai for as long as the Genesis name persists. Hyundai, by definition, is not a luxury brand.
