Is it wrong to tell my 16year old daughter that she must earn a 3.0 gpa or higher if she wants a brand new car for graduation?

If she gets below a 3.0 unless it is a medical or catastrophic situation then I will only buy her a used 2005 Chevy aveo. If she graduates in 2019 wit a 3.0 or higher I will buy her a new Nissan or Honda.

It's perfectly reasonable to use incentives to motivate people. It's a widely established principle in management that incentives only work if the person values the promised reward and sees the goal as achievable. That is, if your daughter is currently making Bs and Cs, a 3.0 should be achievable. If she's really struggling in her classes, she may not see a 3.0 as doable, and it may not motivate her.

Although I have no problem with the procedure, I think the gpa really should be higher than 3.0. With that gpa, it will be hard for her to get into anything but a state school.

Do not buy her 15 y.o.car. Are you stupid or smth? All your money will go to a mechanic and them his children will go to a medical college. Because you re stupid

I really believe that you're being a little to lenient myself, but what do I know?

Nothing wrong with that.

Not at all but you should have aimed hire though like a 3.5+

Kids sometime tend to go lower than there expected to.

Personally, I think buying a car of any type is ridiculous. When I went to school, it was expected that you would graduate. On the day of my graduation, my parents had a party and that was my gift. So, why do you feel that buying a car is necessary? Your daughter is getting the wrong message. She is going to think that achieving a goal means that she will automatically get a gift. The reward should be the feeling that you made it to a goal that you set for yourself. Putting something like a car into the equation strikes me as being a bribe.

It's wrong if she's not a 3.0 GPA student.

And what parent would ask this?

By the way have fun paying those insurance premiums. They will be out of sight!

I don't think its wrong, it'll encourage her to make good grades, maybe you can tell her if she gets bad grades you will get her a bike
