Is this 1979 Honda CX 500 a good deal?

you're the best for helping, know that.

Be careful buying bikes somebody else chopped up. If something breaks you could spend a long time trying to find replacement parts. If you don't do your own work it's going to be hard finding a shop that will work on a bike that old, not to mention somebody has customized it. I definitely wouldn't pay almost 3000 bucks for it

Depends. Why do you want the motorcycle?
Ride the twisties? Show it off at the bar? Commuting? Seat doesn't look very comfortable.

I'd buy it. Looks like fun.

If you could get him to 2500 or lower, I'd say go for it. Looks like a nice bike.

Those were fun little twins. Tend to be very reliable and pretty easy to work on. The age, though, means parts are starting to get hard to find, but there's a strong online community for them.

This one sure is pretty and heavily modified. If it looks as good in person as it does in the picture and it is what you want, and it runs good, then I would part with that cash for it.

Looks pretty!
But how does it run?

If looking for a starter bike- not a good deal.
If looking for a bike to show off I'd still offer less.

  • No spark condition in a 1979 Honda CB250T? I picked this bike up a couple days ago and it has no spark. It has a kickstarter, but no battery. It also has CDI ignition electric start. The specific CDI is TIA01-20, does this bike need a battery for spark even for the kickstart?
  • Is the honda cbr 500 a good first bike and how expensive is the insurance and cost? Ok i'm 20 ans iv always wanted to ride a motorcycle ever since i was little and now i have a full time job and want to ride. I heard about the 250s but i know that id be tired of it after like 4 to 5 months while riding. I was thinking of the honda cbr500 i'm 5'9 155 pounds. Also how much would insurance cost and the paynents per month i may put 1000 down but i'm not sure i just want to have a decent amount of pay per month not too much
  • Is the 1979 honda cb750f super sport reliable? A guy in town is selling one with 11,000 miles on it and says it runs great. Are there any known problems with them? I don't want to buy a bike that will end up needing lots of work to fix when it's only worth like $1000 anyways.
